We have started learning a new waiata this week called Hau. Hau was a famous Maori warrior who went looking for his wife (who'd gone missing...). As he searched he came across many beautiful rivers and places. He named the Manawatu river Manawatu (heart + stood still) because it was so beautiful that it made his heart stand still!
So today we used our Kapa Haka seniors to tell the juniors about the story of Hau. Now we understand the story, we can perform the waiata better!
